Day 5: Chocolate Day

Having heard so much about chocolate cafes in Sydney, we decided to search for 2 of them that day. While walking towards the ladies section of David Jones (7 stories high I think, facing Elizabeth Street), we passed by Max Brenner.... and decided to have a mug of hot chocolate for lunch!

Dig the hug mug!

Rich and smooth...just the way I like my hot chocolate. Like what Ruth says-chocolate is pure comfort food. Sipping a mug of real hot chocolate really hit a spot in me. I felt better straight away.
Moving along, we managed to locate Lindt Cafe along Martins Place in Sydney.

This beautifully decorated place is filled with many visitors. I love the decor.

Lindt Cafe opened its first cafe in Sydney, so I really glad that we managed to find it on our last day.

hmm... decisions decisions...

Since they served desserts, we decided to go with Passion.

Passion- Mousse of passion fruit. Within it lies layers of dark chocolate. This was really really good! Rich and smooth....
We also tried their hot chocolate. Interestingly, it came with a tiny jug of melted lindt 70% dark chocolate and a larger jar of frothed milk.

To be really honest, I was slightly disappointed in this. It was quite....ordinary? Maybe Lindt chocolate is over marketed in supermarkets. I can get a block for less than Aus$2 so to pay $6 for a mug of hot chocolate just seems over the top.

Max Brenner-on the other hand, has a much smoother and richer taste. I wonder why?

Oh! That's the dessert counter. I would love to have my birthday cake ordered from Lindt! Wouldn't you?

I asked for macarons to be packed away... I couldn't resist and finished it in the airport anyway! kekeke. They were delicious but I think Evan's homemade macrons will probably taste so much better. For some reason, these looked too commercialized....

These were dark chocolate and champagne.

And that pretty much sums up my trip to Sydney! Hope you guys had fun looking at the pictures as much as I did posting them up! =)

Oh how nice...macaron is on my to-try list (as in buy and try), not baking it myself. Hehe... Love the Passion dessert, looks so good!

Evan-yes! ther were from Lindt. I have been yearning for your macarons since earlier this year btw... I honestly think they will be better. =)
The ones i bought were 2 for AU$4-not as ex as the ones from da paolo but due to the exchange rate-probably around the same as da paolo... =( Will give u a yell when I return!

inspiredmumof2-hehe..I shared everything. So there was only 1 mug of hot chocolate between 2 of us (for both lindt and max brenner).

tigerfish-yes! it is quite ex. As a kid, chocolate is a luxury-this puts it back in its place rather than those cheapo imitation, CMI brands of chocolates on the shelves of supermarkets. I chose the dark chocolate from Max and Lindt too! Dark is the real stuff man! heheheh

east meets west-I'm so tempted to buy the mug but it's $22 or something..so ex!

littler corner- yeah! marcon was on my to-try list too! I was so excited when I saw that. ;p Passion dessert stood out for me because the rest of the menu featured lots of white choc desserts, and I didn't want a cake-too ordinary. =)

The macaroons look perfect. I like the lemon ones. Have not tried MB even though was just below the school that my girl went to. Heard lots of good reviews. I want to make macaroons when I have enough confidence but not right now. Hehe.
